What is Argireline

If you have been looking into anti-aging skin care products recently you have likely heard of a relatively new product by the name of “Argireline”. Though there has been great exposure for the product, you may not feel as though you know enough about it to make an informed decision regarding whether it would be appropriate for you to try it. Understanding the product can help you to determine if you would like to address your skin aging concerns with Argireline.

First, Argireline is a trade name. It is applied to a synthetic material known as acetyl hexapeptide-3. Though synthetic, it is derived from natural proteins. Created by the Barcelona-based laboratory Liptec, this chemical is a chain of six amino acids known as a peptide. Current trials and developments have made Argireline one of the most coveted ingredients in anti-aging cosmetic skin care products in today’s market.

This product works in several ways. One of them is by addressing the reduced collagen within the skin. Collagen is the material that keeps the skin firm, youthful-looking, and resilient. As we age and our skin is exposed to a variety of environmental influences such as weather as well as physiological problems including sleep-deprivation, stress, and simple aging, our bodies reduce the amount of collagen that is produced. This leads to skin that does not have the bounce and smoothness that is desired. Peptides such as Argireline stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen so that the skin will remain beautiful.

The main way that Argireline works, however, is not by addressing environmental issues. Instead, the product effects more complicated skin concerns. Many of the lines and wrinkles that you see in your skin are caused by the muscle contractions your face goes through during the day when you speak, eat, and make facial expressions. The maker of Argireline states that the product works on the muscular level by preventing the release by the brain of neurotransmitters that trigger muscular contractions. By halting this chemical process Argireline ceases the repetitive movements of muscles used to create facial expressions. This will not only reduce the depth of existing wrinkles and lines but will also prevent other lines and wrinkles from forming.

Studies have indicated that when created in the proper concentration—10% or less—Argireline products are safe and effective. Many users will see results within the first few moments after application. Consistent usage over a period of thirty days will lead to significant reduction in the appearance of these concerns.
